Our team

The Student Identifiers Registrar is responsible for administering the USI initiative nationally.

The Student Identifiers Registrar manages the USI Registry System which creates and stores USIs; and helps students and education and training providers access the USI Registry System to create, find and update USIs securely.

The Student Identifiers Registrar is supported by staff from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

The Student Identifiers Registrar

The Student Identifiers Registrar is a Commonwealth statutory officer position established by the Student Identifiers Act 2014.

This position is appointed by the Commonwealth Skills Minister in consultation with ministers from Australia’s states and territories. 

The current Student Identifiers Registrar is Craig Ward.

The following 3 teams support the Student Identifiers Registrar to deliver the USI Initiative:

  1. Digital and Project Services
  2. Corporate Services, Communications, Stakeholder Relations and Customer Services
  3. Policy, Data and Compliance.

Student Identifiers Registrar

Craig Ward

Craig Ward was appointed as the Student Identifiers Registrar in January 2024.

Craig remains dedicated to keeping the needs of students and providers at the forefront, committed to delivering a simple and secure customer experience, prioritising students' privacy, and ensuring individuals have control over who can access their personal information.

Craig is a senior leader with over 30 years of experience. He has worked with a range of organisations as a service delivery executive, and successful leadership in large enterprise teams underscores his passion for ensuring customers realise business value through service delivery.

Director, Policy, Data and Compliance

Glen Watson

Glen is a senior leader within the Australian Public Sector, with over 45 years of experience. He has worked with a broad range of departments and agencies, making strong contributions to a range of public policy areas.

Glen leads the Policy, Data and Compliance team. His team is responsible for:

  • changes to the Student Identifiers Act and related policies
  • privacy and data breach management
  • compliance and enforcement  
  • data analysis and reporting to inform business priorities
  • business assurance activities to identify risk and opportunities for improvement.

Director, Digital and Project Services

Suzana Bogosavljevic

Suzana leads the Digital and Project Services team. She brings a wealth of experience, following an extensive career within the public sector working across a range of skills, education and employment programs for numerous departments.

The Digital and Project Services team oversees and leads the:

  • development, maintenance and enhancement of the USI Registry System and supporting applications
  • onboarding of clients to USI ICT systems
  • delivery of USI ICT functions for whole of government initiatives.

Director, Corporate Services, Communications, Stakeholder Relations and Customer Services

Andrea Lindsay

Andrea brings over 20 years of experience spanning local, state and Commonwealth government. She is driven by her passion for communicating and engaging with people to deliver the right message at the right time on their journey.

Andrea leads several areas of the office with key focus on:

  • delivering a range of frontline service delivery channels for students, education or training providers, and employers
  • providing high level administrative, strategic planning and operational support
  • developing, engaging, influencing and managing relationships with key stakeholders across the education ad training sectors.
